As first time parents, we were very nervous when looking for childcare. Having never gone through the experience, it was nerve racking to say the least. We visited a few large and well known facilities before stumbling upon The Back Cove School on a recommendation from someone we knew. The very first thing we liked about BCS is the fact that it’s not widely advertised and didn’t have a huge sign out front showing that children were there. It just felt safe and homey like we wanted. The staff, including the owner Michelle, were all smiling, had warm welcomes, and were super friendly when meeting them for the first time. We loved the fact that the daycare transitioned into preschool and was one less thing to worry about getting our child on a list for in the future. We now have had two children go through the programs and couldn’t be happier! Our oldest has transitioned to school, but still enjoys the summer program when school is out! She talks nonstop about her day and field trips when we pick her up and it truly has made us feel that we made the right decision that day 6.5 years ago! Our youngest has just transitioned into the pre-k portion of BCS, and it is fun watching him learn, grow, and become more and more independent. My two children have been attending The Back Cove School since 2015. Michelle and the rest of the staff provide an excellent daycare and preschool program filled with fun and enriching games and activities to prepare for elementary school. The Back Cove School has been a part of our family for over 21 years. My younger sister went to BCS 20 years ago and our niece and nephews attended BCS when they were infants up through the summer camp program. BCS has AND is a part of our family to say the least! Our children have been with BCS since they were 12 weeks old. We have felt comforted from the beginning of parenthood dropping our babies off to daycare up until sending off our school aged “babies” to the summer camp program. BCS summer program is AMAZING! Our children are excited to wake up and find out where their next adventure will be. When his previous daycare permanently closed unexpectedly, Michelle and her staff bent over backwards to accommodate an influx of new students. He has thrived amid the many enriching activities, from dance parties to pirates/princesses day to simple unstructured playtime. The hardest thing you can do as a parent is trust someone else with your child. That fear quickly subsided when I learned The Back Cove School is so much more than a school. It is a family. My son started at 3 months and continued all the way through Pre K. Everything we went through as a family, The Back Cove School was there to support us. The teachers are understanding, compassionate, and caring. I may not have been able to kiss every scrape but knew someone would. My son suffered from chronic ear infections and needed tubes. This put him behind with his speech. The teachers at BCS were quick to notice and helped guide me through the process of getting him the extra help he needed. They worked with his speech therapist and gave him the extra attention he required. The list of what Back Cove has done for my son and our family goes on and on. All I know is I could never repay them for everything they have done for us. As my son starts kindergarten this year, I know Back Cove has prepared him with all the tools he needs to succeed. Our now toddler has attended The Back Cove School since she was four months old.
